Gubbio, Italy, is the capital of a municipality, among the largest in Italy (the seventh “commune” in Italy). The town is located in the middle of a wide territory located approximately 200 km North from Rome and 200 km South East from Florence. The historic city centre has many medieval buildings and major monuments: an urban space miraculously intact in its plant with churches, convents, palaces, public and private buildings, ancient walls, squares, streets, fountains, shophouses, orchards and gardens. Gubbio is responsible for one of the sites to be analysed in the HERACLES project.
